House of Leaves
David Roberts Art Foundation, 2013
The heat of the Day, commissioned
by David Roberts Art Foundation, London (DRAF) 2013. It features collaged text from the novel of the same name performed by four performers, the apartment in the novel is both a psychological and physical space. The performance as part of ‘The house
of Leaves’ used doubling and mirroring
as devices to convey the passing of time and the non-linear repetitions that occurred
in the characters lives during wartime.
The architectural dimensions of the apartment are marked out with black tape on the gallery floor and the performers are present both in the imagined space and
the gallery space concurrently as they performed text, which moved back and forwards through time.
